Ok, now coming to the point. Can someone submit more than one project which might fall into different categories ?

The rules (http://contest.qtcentre.org) don't forbid that, so I think you can. You might say it is the software that takes part in the competition, not the author. I'm not the final decision maker when it comes to rules, though. Johan would have to answer that - he wrote most of them :)
