Hi,
I've already started working on my entry but some nagging questions still haunt me... :(

As far as I read there are three major steps in the contest : registration, submission and results. What's puzzling is that there are absolutely no information on how to submit your code once your entry has been registered... Or did I miss something?
Will you publish a full list of competitors/entries? If so before or after issuing the results?
What's the best way to win the MacBook ? I'm craving fo a decent computer... :crying:

Very good! :)

Correct.

No, you didn't miss anything. We'll publish info about how to submit the project some time before the deadline.

We'll surely publish a list before the competition ends. We're waiting to have a decent number of registrations in each category before we do that as right now the list might look a bit silly :)

Follow the guidelines posted on the contest webpage. No matter what some people say, we're not requiring anything tedious - we just want you to create good software. And if you want to win a prize as good as a MacBook or a Greenphone, sorry, but you have to make some effort. If you want the contest to be repeated next year, the sponsors have to be pleased with the entries.

The goal of the contest (at least my goal) is to boost production of good Qt-based software. As for now we have very few or none submissions of applications which are new (in the meaning that their development was inspired by the contest). This is very disappointing for me. Don't be afraid - register your applications, don't waste a chance for winning really decent prizes. If you don't feel confident enough to enter the competition - do it anyway, you don't loose anything. If you don't have an idea for an application - try to enter in the custom widget or mobile application category.

I'm sure you realize how hard designing and writing full applications can be... Thus you should not expect the birth of dozens of brand new projects just for a contest... I think this contest (or at least its first edition) is rather symbolic and should reward existing application and, thus inspire developers...

IMHO Helper Library would be easier than Mobile Application because just a few classes can already appear to be useful (some cross-platform single application or portable file extension registration for exemple...) but I tend to agree with you about the rest... :)

Depends on what the application is to do. If you are to implement a simple arkanoid game, you don't need much planning and designing.

Why not? You have almost half a year to create an application, it's a very long time.

The prizes are far from being symbolic, though :)

True enough! And that's why I wouldn't complain if I was the only competitor... ;)

You're not :)
