"The input line is too long"

I am trying to install Qt 4.4.0 on win2k but partway through the make phase (compiling the webkit files) it errors out with "The input line is too long". On trawling the net, this appears to be a problem with cmd.exe in windows. It seems that the cmd.exe can only accept ~3000 characters as a command line. One solution was to use 4NT as a replacement for cmd.exe but that failed as well. I counted the characters on the command that failed and it numbered 2001.

I am now stumped for a solution. Any thoughts any one?

Try using command instead of cmd or move your files upwards in a directory tree so that all file paths are shorter.
