add a program to start menu

Guys,

I developed the software which works fine. But i want to add that program into Start menu. I am using the Suse 11.0 and gnome and Kde desktop. How to add my program into start menu by using c language. Or else already any available shell command there??? Help me......

You have to deploy a desktop file into an appropriate directory in the menu structure (/usr/share/applications probably).
