View Full Version : Eclipse Integration sans Integration

Hello All,

I've recently joined the world of QT dev (as a path out of VB6 and DLL hell). I'm looking at IDEs, currently Eclipse with the QT integration. I have Eclipse Ganymede, Java SDK 1.6 , QT 4.5, and the current CDT and QT integration plugins on Linux (Gentoo). The "integration" of QT tools seems lacking, and I'm wondering if I am missing something obvious.

The QT C++ perspective is visible. The project file editor occasionally works (sometimes I just get a text editor). I have panes for the QT C++ Signal editor, QT C++ Object Inspector, and QT C++ Property editor in Eclipse but nothing ever appears in them. Designer is opened standalone if I double click a UI file. Builds sometime fail to update ui*.h files after Designer updates.

Have I missed the blindingly obvious?
Regards,
Chris W

The blindingly obvious: Qt Creator (bottom of this page)
http://www.qtsoftware.com/downloads

I like this very much, as upon trying most of the others had various problems with them, ie.- would not compile, or got strange errors

Yes, that's where I downloaded the Qt Eclipse Integration for C++ from. Even followed the install instructions AFAICT. Not too much to get wrong... un-tar into the right place.

I meant use the Qt Creator IDE (not Eclipse integration) downloadable from the bottom left of the page at the url:
