PyQt: Elixir/SQLAlchemy or QtSQL

I'm planning on writing a database app using PyQt and Firebird. If I have to make an investment in time to learn Elixir (http://elixir.ematia.de/trac/wiki) or QtSQL, what would you recommend?

could you same me your choise, and if possible, your reason ( objective or subjective ) ??
