It mentions the Gitorious site, crated account, etc. That site talks a lot about clones, repositories, project, git commands, etc. I'm having hard time to get started.

Question: Where can I download and install that git utility so I can publish the changes I made?

In my opinion the guidelines (http://qt.gitorious.org/qt/pages/QtContributionGuidelines) are very clear. They even wrote a short introduction to Git (http://qt.gitorious.org/qt/pages/GitIntroductionWithQt). What comes to installing Git, your distro probably provides a ready made package, or you can download it directly from http://git-scm.com.
