Hi all,

I'm having an issue and most likely I am doing this the wrong way but wondered if anyone could help.

Basically I want to take an exiting xml document, query it using xquery/xpath, and create a new xml document. Here's what I have so far:

XML

Here's the code:

QFile file("books.xml");
QDomDocument doc("books");

if (!file.open(QIODevice::ReadOnly | QIODevice::Text))
return 0;
if (!doc.setContent(&file)) {
file.close();
return 0;
}
file.close();

QByteArray outArray;
QBuffer buffer(&outArray);
buffer.open(QIODevice::ReadWrite);

QByteArray inArray = doc.toByteArray();
QBuffer inBuffer(&inArray);
inBuffer.open(QIODevice::ReadOnly);

QXmlQuery qry(QXmlQuery::XQuery10);

qry.setFocus(&inBuffer);
qry.setQuery("/catalog/book/price");

if (qry.isValid()){
qry.evaluateTo(&buffer);
}

cout << QString::fromUtf8(outArray.constData()).toStdStrin g() << endl;

QDomDocument newDoc;
QDomNode xml = newDoc.createProcessingInstruction("xml", "version=\"1.0\"");

QDomElement newRoot = newDoc.createElement("records");

QDomDocument otherDoc;

QString errorMsg;
int errorLine;
int errorColumn;

if (!otherDoc.setContent(outArray, &errorMsg, &errorLine))
cout << errorMsg.toStdString() << ' ' << errorLine << ':' << errorColumn << endl;

newRoot.appendChild(otherDoc);

newDoc.appendChild(xml);
newDoc.appendChild(newRoot);

cout << newDoc.toString().toStdString() << endl;

buffer.close();
inBuffer.close();

And here's the output:
<price>44.95</price><price>5.95</price><price>5.95</price><price>5.95</price><price>5.95</price><price>4.95</price><price>4.95</price><price>4.95</price><price>6.95</price><price>36.95</price><price>36.95</price><price>49.95</price>
unexpected character 1:-1073743404
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<records>
<price>44.95</price>
</records>

Any help is greatly appreciated!
