QtMultimedia module in QT 4.5

I have qt 4.5 installed on my ubuntu OS.
and as per my knowledge QtMultimedia module comes with versions after 4.6
So. how can i use it on my qt 4.5

As a solution to this , how can i upgrade to qt 4.7.1.
Also, does it (qt 4.7.1) at least offers the QtMultimedia functionality as offered by QT 4.6

bt the problem I have now is the upgradation of qt 4.5 to qt 4.7.1 on my Ubuntu OS(Linux)
On their website, I could only see link to download the tar file for qt 4.7.1
I want the upgradation

You can either upgrade to a newer Ubuntu release (the last one contains Qt 4.7.0), find a backport repository with Qt 4.7 compiled for your release or download the source tarball and build Qt yourself, it's very simple.

the method you suggest needs to install qt from scratch but i want just up gradation
any shorter way?

What do you consider an "upgradation"?

means a system that modifies and adds the functionalities in the already installed version QT 4.5 according to the latest version QT 4.7.1

It doesn't work that way. You really have to upgrade to version 4.7 (that is replace 4.5 with 4.7 in your system) and not download a bunch of files and think your 4.5 will suddenly have the capabilities of 4.7.
