We've been running with a self-compiled version of Qt for a while and our X11 embed code has been working perfectly, however we had an issue with Phonon that required a recompile, since I've done that the embed code completely fails to work, I'm pretty positive I've made no changes to the build environment that could cause it to fail so I'm a bit stumped and the documentation doesn't suggest what aspects actually control whether or not it works.
Reverting to our previous build of 4.7.4 does resolve the issue.
