Scanner Input in an IMX53 Board

Hello Guys , Is there a way to use a scanner for an IMX53 board ?
I have a scanner with an usb connection , I tried connecting to the Usb port of the IMX53 board , But to no avail , the scanner does process the barcode numbers , Is there any way to solve it ? Do i have to do some settings first ?

I am able to use the Barcode scanner in windows perfectly fine , Just that when i port my codes into Digi Esp in linux , the codes cannot seem to work , I guess is the configuration problems . Anyone know what to change inside the configuration so i can use the barcode scanner in linux environment?
