View Full Version : TrollTech.conf in KDE

In Fedora 20, KDE with Oxygen theme, as a regular user I am unable to add entries to the Qt's "filedialog" entry that ultimately appears in .config/TrollTech.conf. The workaround I found is surely not the intended behaviour:

1) Start a kde session as root (sudo -s or ssh -X is not enough)
2) Launch the application that provides an Open File menu (I used Mathematica)
3) Select Open on the File menu
4) Navigate the list of directories in the dialog, select and drag each directory to the pre-selected directories pane in the dialog.
5) Close dialog and exit application
6) Logout and login as regular user
7) Launch the application and select Open
8) The pre-selected directories will show on the left pane of the open dialog.

Is there any other way to do this? Shouldn't this drag'n-drop pre-selection behaviour be available to a regular user? Is there a permission adjustment that is missing somewhere? I tried manually editing the TrollTech.conf file directly, but the result was a return to the default two pre-selected directories, obviously from some syntax error on the modifications.
