View Full Version : Poll: Windows IDE

I'm trying to find an alternative to MS Studio, and would like to see what others are using on Windows (see related thread).

I voted "I use Linux", but I also use a simple text editor. And that would be the same if I used Windows. Give me something like Kate, and I'm happy.

I voted for "I use Linux" too, and here I use KDevelop 3.4.1 with good integrated Qt4 project management.

I voted for Code::Blocks that I use along with QtWorkbench (http://code.google.com/p/qtworkbench/) that I maintain. I guess your list sould also include Eclipse for which Trolltech is releasing official support.

I've added "Eclipse" option.

I voted for "I use Linux" too, and i use the popular gnu-emacs as my development environment. For now i really miss kde-emacs package since they dont seem to work with emacs-xft(still in cvs which supports monospaced fonts like bitstream..) :(

I use Visual Studio 2003.

I use QDevelop,
I think this is not bad program :-). And at it the big future:).
The choice is caused by that I plan to borrow Qt not only in windows, and also in Mac and Linux.

SlickEdit is also quite good IDE, with some qt related configuration ( adding a few qt related defines, like Q_OBJECT, etc ) it prvides very good code navigation and completion.

For me, the editor makes a huge difference. I hate Visual Studio's editor, and so I use XEmacs and a command window. For debugging I have to go back into VS though. I mainly develop under Unix, so I'm not in Windows much.

I use QDevelop on both Windows and Linux.
I also think it'll have a bright future... :)

Someone should add Qt Creator...
Or do we already have more than enough IDEs?

Wouldn't changing a 2 years old poll be unfair? People might have changed their minds since then now that there are new options available but they wouldn't be able to re-vote.

2nd June 2009, 21:04
Let's close the poll, shall we? Anyone against?

I use Linux, and use KDevelop4. Waiting for KDevelop4 to run on Windows and I would use that.

Close the thread and make a new one including QTCreator...
