Download the platform independent sources from http://qdevelop.org,
I've compiled QDevelop on Mac OS X using Qt 4.2.3, and it works fine :).

You don't have to do that, it's the same, instead you have to recompile & reconfigure Qt
Just use the binary installed, and compile QDevelop just like any other Qt projects.

You don't have to recompile & reconfigure qt,
You just have to compile & configure the QDevelop sources, just like any other Qt projects
