Commenting out "CONFIG += silent" was a good idea.
It seems I was using the wrong version of qmake.
/usr/lib/qt5/bin/qmake qwt.pro
works on Kubunti 24.04.
I still have to comment out...
Try to remove the line "CONFIG += silent" in qwtbuild.pri. Then you will see a lot more information about what is going on.
My guess is, that you have different Qwt/Qt combinations in the various...
