I want to know whether image can be of any other shape .i.e.other than square or rectangle.please help

thanks for the help.In puzzle the cutting is square in shape.I want to cut the image in the ^ shape.is there any way.

And what is wrong with the answer posted in the mentioned thread? You can have any shape you want, just provide a mask for it.
