qt tableview logical index returning -1 in random cases

I am trying to get logical indexes from the horizontal header of my table view. The header has 13 columns. I am using show/hide and restore the header . But in any case the visual index should not go out of range.
The application crashes randomly sometimes as it returns -1 for the last visual index.
But this issue is not replicated on my side. It is only replicated at the clients end,
Tried replacing all the dlls and the exe, but of no use.
Please let me know if there is any solution to it.
