Default Qtopia Core and Qtopia Phone Edition

    Hello,

There are some qtopia downloads on trolltech website as you know..

One of them is "Qt Open Source Edition for C++ Developers: Embedded Linux Download" and the other one is "Qtopia Phone Edition - Open Source" ...

As i understand, Qtopia phone edition provides some phone spesific tools...What are other important differences between these two versions?

Qt Embedded (formerly known as Qtopia Core) is the embedded version of Qt. It implements the same API familiar from the desktop version of Qt. Qtopia is a framework or platform, which is based on Qt Embedded.

Doesn't Qtopia use the same api with Qtopia core?
Can you give me an example about when do i need to use Qtopia or when do i need Qtopia Core? What is the difference between applications compiled with these versions...,

I ve set up both versions on my linux machine. As you mentioned, Qt Embedded looks very similar to Qt desktop edition(at least it uses qmake); but Qtopia has some differences like qtopiamake....?

First of all, forget about Qtopia Core. It exists no more. As the name was a bit confusing, it was renamed Qt Embedded. Qt Embedded for Linux makes it possible to use Qt on an embedded Linux without X11. For more information about Qt Embedded for Linux, see Embedded Linux Application Framework.

Qtopia Phone/PDA editions, however, are something completely different. They are phone/pda platforms written with Qt Embedded. For more information about Qtopia, see The Qtopia application platform for embedded Linux.
