get the data of link.

hi all,
i am making an application, in which i want to retrieve the text of the link that is currently focused.
eg: "google.com", if this is the link, i want value as "google.com" so that i can handle it as a string.

does anyone know some API to get the thing done, or can someone please tell me the steps to do it?
