Hi,
My application is using Bitstream Vera fonts, if I am using a translation (Asian), do I need to change to another font type? Is this handled by the Qt font engine or do I need a compatible asian font?
Thank you.

I suppose it's a better etiquette to allow users to be able to choose font?
If you don't let the user choose and OS is not supported by default, maybe you'll end up tweaking more complex things like FontConfig.
Sometimes OS/Desktop Environment has greater influence on fonts, applications are more like giving "hints". Vera can't show Asian font I think. I've experienced the same text display on Linux, but not Windows; or on Gnome but not KDE. If you have the translation already, just give it a try
