QtSerialPort dependency on Perl

The QtSerialPort installation instructions (http://qt-project.org/wiki/QtSerialPort) state that it is needed to install Perl.

Seems that it is required only to build the QtSerialPort library, is that correct?

Would like to know more about that, what Perl does in fact? Why it is required only in the case of Qt5?

Perl is necessary at building in Qt5. This requirement to all Qt5 modules and not just for QtSerialPort.
