Thread: Qt without X11/xorg? Framebuffer?

  1. #1

    Default Qt without X11/xorg? Framebuffer?

Is it possible to run Qt apps on a Linux system without X11 or xorg running? I realise this is probably what embedded Qt/Qtopia does, but I read some posts elsewhere that contradict this. I know Linux has the framebuffer - can Qt applications run solely on this?

    Thanks

Well, if the applications are graphical, you'll need a X server to run them...

Only applications using QtCore library should work on a terminal, without X.

For the framebuffer part...I don't know, I've never tried

They are graphical, but I don't want to run X.

    Thanks

Okay, maybe you should have a look on this particular package : a virtual X server based on framebuffer !

Yes, that's the main difference between Qt and Qtopia Core.
